Microsoft Intune
What is Microsoft Intune?
Microsoft Intune a Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM) software application that is available as a cloud-based service.
It protects the organization’s data while enabling the users to utilize different mobile devices, such as cell-phones, laptops, and desktops.
Key features of Microsoft Intune are:
- Configure rules and settings on organization-owner or personal devices to access company data on the devices.
- Deploy applications approved by your organization.
- Protect company information by controlling and restricting the users from sharing data outside your organization.
Mobile Device Management (MDM)
The users can enroll their personal devices or organization-owned devices in Intune and the administrators can control settings, features and the security of those devices.
Advantages for the administrators:
- Administrators can monitor the inventory of the devices who are accessing organization’s data.
- Setup device compliance policies so that devices are compliant to company’s security standards before accessing confidential data.
- Push certificates to setup VPN access or Wi-fi access for the organization.
- Remove company data from the devices in case the devices are lost, stolen or if they are not used anymore.
Mobile Application Management (MAM)
If the users are using personally-owned devices to access corporate data, Mobile Application Management (MAM) is a great solution to protect the data on the application level. It helps to apply security policies on organization approved applications.
Advantages for the administrators:
- Approve specific applications for the users or groups which can be used to access company data.
- Restrict security settings within the application which can prevent the users to copy, edit or forward the data to anyone outside the organization.
- See report of the users accessing company data.
- Remotely wipe the data from the applications.
